Inside Bran Only Their Guides May Speak, and Sinaia Is Named for Sinai
The day starts in central Brașov and runs out to Bran Castle, finished in 1382, standing on a rock between Măgura and Dealul Cetății.
Then Sinaia, the mountain resort the Romanian royal family used as their summer retreat. Peleș, with its 160 rooms, was built for Carol I between 1873 and 1914, to the designs of the architect Karel Liman.
A stop at the Sinaia monastery, built in 1695 by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino after his pilgrimage to Mount Sinai, which is where the town got its name.
Last, Cantacuzino Castle, built between 1901 and 1911 for Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino: neo-Romanian, with the Bucegi mountains in front of it.
